Pink Chevron Ruffle Skirt!

I had a skirt I really liked and wanted to try to sew something like it myself. I looked at my skirt really hard and put together a lil' blueprint of it. Then, I went to my local fabric store and picked out an elastic band, a pink silk (to go underneath the skirt), a pink chevron fabric, and some white tulle (to add some fluff to the skirt).

Actually, as I put the skirt together I strayed from the blue print... I did not even use the tulle.
But I am surprised at how well it turned out! :D I typically destroy clothes.

The fabric didn't have much stretch to it, so I tried to create a ruffly look by sewing the fabric folded a bit.

I sewed the ruffles onto the silk fabric. I find that the silk keeps the skirt from being "see through".

I like the way this skirt fits and I think it is somewhat cute. The chevron my be a little too childish though. I didn't realize that it had wrinkled so much from me running around in it so much either :)

It was relatively easy to sew this skirt, so perhaps I could try again with some plain fabric or even a newspaper fabric (That would be really cute!). I just need to remember to pick up more fabric this time in order to sew more ruffles...

Let me know what you think! Should I look into sewing with some other fabrics, making some for the Etsy shop (MiaouKeo) or make a tutorial? I could do that :)
